Acne Skin Care Products

Acne skin care products can take on a number of different forms.  Most people are familiar with the creams and pads made popular by several different acne treatment companies in the last 20 years.   These pads and creams use either benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid to help treat acne breakouts.

However, there is more to acne skin care products than just pads and creams.  You can also get masks, moisturizers, and scar treatments.  These different products and procedures are designed to attack acne in different ways, but their mail goal is clear up acne breakouts and remove redness and irritation from the affected skin area. All these products whether they are creams and pads or masks, moisturizers, and scar treatments work well at treating and preventing acne and acne scarring.

However, there are a few things you can do to help the effectiveness of these products:

1.   Try to avoid touching affected skin areas.  Touching these areas can exacerbate the pores by causing additional acne outbreaks.

2.   Avoid overwashing your face.  Contrary to popular opinion, overwashing your face will not clear out pores.  The reason for this is the pores are blocked far below the skin surface.  In fact, you should wash your face gently twice a day at the most because if you overwash the face, you run the risk of irritating the pores leading to more possible blockages.

3.   You can and should pop some pimples.  Do not be afraid to pop pimples if they are ready to pop.  The best way to tell if the pimples are ready to pop is if they are above the surface and are white.  However, if after applying pressure, the pimple does not pop, you should stop.  Continuing beyond this point could lead to scarring.

By keeping these tips in mind while using your acne skin care products, you are far more likely to be satisfied with the results.  A little extra attention to these details can help you keep your body and face clear of acne.
